REFLECTION

Throughout the semester, this subject has given me an opportunity to familiarize myself with the design environment. I believe the four modules form a brilliant subject structure because each module required the skills from the proceeding modules. This system has helped me review and strengthen the skills I have learnt in the earlier units. Aside from the neat subject structure, the workshops were very engaging and interesting to follow.

Throughout the semester, I have developed quiet a number of skills. They ranged from time management to presentation skills. Manual and digital design skills were also practiced in the subject. However, the most significant skillset I think I gained throughout this journey is my skills in operating the CAD softwares, such as: Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign, and Rhinoceros.  As an inspiring architect, I am conscious that all of these skills are fundamental for my future studies and/or career.

The major challenge I encountered in this subject is dividing the workload of each module. As I was a novice in the design world, I was not sure of which steps I should have done first and how much time I would need to complete each task. This had led to an unorganized ‘’behind-the-scenes’’ of my modules. However, as I gained this experience in this subject, my latter works may be much organized and planned.

I consider my performance in this subject pretty satisfying, considering my background which had zero design experience. The modules in which I got high marks showed me my strengths, while the ones with lower marks made me reflect on the things I should focus on in the latter semesters. Overall, this journey has been a great experience for me to gain more insight to be a proper design student in a university environment.
